Indonesia Kratom For Sale: ‘Herbal Alternative’ The Addicts

Kratom for sale

Marketed as supplement in the form of capsules and fine powders. Besides being labeled potent as a recreational herbal pain reliever, kratom is also intended for users who want to be free from drug addiction.

Kratom is a psychoactive plant that is used as a traditional herbal medicine and herb in a number of Southeast Asian regions thousands of years ago.

A review of the literature revealing the Kratom centuries ago has become part of plants consumed by the public, especially those who settled in southern Thailand and northern Malaysia.

Kratom is included in the family plants of coffee (Rubiaceae) which produce important alkaloids such as caffeine. Tropical plants that grow 4-16 meters tall and ordinary people use the leaves that have width beyond the palms of adults.

For a long time, farmers and fishermen used to consume kratom leaves as an herbal stimulant that is believed to be efficacious to boost work productivity and drive away fatigue. They usually consume kratom leaves by chewing like betel leaves or brewing like tea.

The plant, nicknamed mitragyna speciosa, grows in tropical countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and is included in Indonesia. Kratom later became widely known in the United States and several European countries because it was considered efficacious as a recreational medical alternative.

Commodities and markets for kratom users develop accompanied by a series of scientific studies. In the field of medical science, a number of researchers recognize kratom as a plant that can be used for alternative medical needs.

Professor of the field of emergency medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Erdward W. Boyer, pocketed the results of research that revealed the reason that kratom could be a recreational medical plant.

If taken in low doses, Boyer said, kratom can act as a stimulant and help improve focus. While for use with high doses, kratom can be a sedative that produces anti-pain effects like opium.

According to Boyer, the sensation of relaxation occurs because the active ingredients in kratom, namely mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, bind to opioid receptors in the human body.

Boyer calls kratom as effective as morphine in relieving pain. “You can get analgesics that are very effective (from kratom),” Boyer said as quoted by CNN.

Targeted by DEA

The US Anti-Narcotics Agency (DEA) takes seriously the phenomenon of mushrooming use of kratom which is a trend in some circles, especially young people. In August 2016, DEA included kratom in the list of plants (substance) which were deemed necessary to receive supervision.

DEA considers kratom high potential to cause dependence. They intend to classify the plant into type I narcotics, like marijuana, ecstasy, heroin, and cocaine.

Based on the DEA study, long-term use of kratom can cause people to become irritable, aggressive, unstable emotional changes, aches in the muscles and bones, and difficulty moving limbs.

The US psychotropic surveillance law enforcement agency then temporarily implemented a ban on the use of kratom for the public. DEA considers kratom vulnerable to abuse by the public as recreational opium.

The DEA’s decision attracted protests from various circles, including researchers. Category kratom as narcotics class I is considered to be no different from limiting the movement of researchers in studying further the benefits of the substance of the plant.

The DEA ban is considered controversial considering that not a few US citizens consider kratom to have changed their lives much more meaningfully in a positive sense.

Finding great pressure from the public, the DEA in October 2016 revoked their temporal policy regarding the ban on the use of kratom for the public.

To avoid the tendency of unilateral decision making, the DEA then opens a response or opinion opinion from the public until the deadline of December 1, 2016. The public response that has entered will later be considered by DEA in addressing the status of the kratom.

Consideration of the DEA will also refer to formal input from the US Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (FDA) – which is considered cheating because it has passed kratom as a non-opium plant. Until this article is revealed, the DEA has not issued a further official statement.

Long before the DEA opened a public response to efforts to ban Kratom, the users of herbal medicine had raised their voices and provided various testimonies in a number of online forums.

User Experience

The Washington Post could publish articles about their searches about how people feel the effects, sensations, and effects experienced when consuming kratom. The literature used as a reference source is the Erowid.org website.

Erowid.org is known as an online encyclopedia site that specifically explores in detail the psychoactive substances contained in various mediums. The profiles of the two founders, aka Earth and Fire, were featured in an in-depth review at The New Yorker last year, coinciding with their site’s two-decade anniversary.

At the Erowid site, users of various types of psychoactive substances ranging from caffeine to heroin can share personal experiences while under the influence of the substance they consume.

The user testimonials will receive curators from the moderator, classified into sub-categories, before being published on Erowid.org. These reports are usually used as a reference for researchers and drug seekers who want to know more details about information from a substance.

Especially for Kratom, there are at least 290 testimonials in the form of detailed reports of user experience recorded in and published in Erowid since 2001. Hundreds of reports of Kratom users have become references to research subjects published by Marc Swogger and colleagues in last year’s Psychoactive Drugs journal.

Swogger in his research journal records and classifies user experience reports into positive and negative categories. The classification is then sub-categorized into sensations of experience such as euphoria, relaxation, nausea, itching, and so on.

The results of Swogger’s classification show that the majority of kratom users (30.4 percent) feel relaxed and comfortable, and euphoric when consuming them with high doses. “A number of users described the effects they experienced were the same as they felt when consuming opium,” Swogger said.

Meanwhile, the most negative comments on kratom are around 16 percent of users claiming to feel nauseous. Apart from that there are also those who claim to often shiver and sweat every time they consume kratom.

An important note from the research is that, in every positive experience of a substance there will always be negative experiences that accompany it. But the ratio of the effects of good and bad experience from kratom is smaller than marijuana, heroin, cocaine, let alone alcohol.

Alternative medicine

Now many drug users, at least in the United States, are turning to kratom. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) later received more and more reports of the problems of individuals dealing with kratom.

In the last five years, reports of kratom entering the CDC have increased 10-fold, from 26 in 2010 to 263 in 2015. As many as 35 percent of reports that came in were related to the use of kratom combined with other substances such as benzodiazepines or sedatives with other types of narcotics.

Some people choose kratom because it is considered effective for relieving pain. One of them is Leonard Rodda, who is now a kratom seller in herbal packaging at his small shop in Atlanta.

Rodda began making kratom as a daily supplement for two years. He turned to Kratom after experiencing bad side effects from drugs prescribed by the doctor after he had a car accident.

Before Rodda found out about Kratom, his life was acknowledged to be very concerning. The anti-pain medication prescribed by the doctor made him sleep most of the time. Every time you go to the cinema, for example, Rodda will definitely sleep in the middle of the film.

“That is not the way I live my life. I am always active. I always work,” Rodda said when retelling his experience to CNN.

After getting to know the kratom, Rodda realized that he had returned. He claimed that he had recently started returning to outdoor activities and cycling as usual.

“Quality of life is most important, and I think Kratom has given the best,” Rodda said.

Rodda takes two kratom capsules every morning. The pain he experienced after a car accident has now disappeared. Many of the customers who came to Rodda’s shop had similar goals: looking for pain relievers.

“Kratom does give you a little euphoria,” Rodda said. “Sometimes it can also help you concentrate better. There are also types of variants that boost mood.”

Kratom for sale online

Kratom sales are increasing because there are markets that buy them. Not only in America, in Indonesia has Kratom become a commodity that is in demand by a limited circle.

Kratom is sold in neat packaging and even has a brand from each seller. The kratom sellers sell their merchandise online, either through Facebook, Instagram, or through online retailers.

Kratom is sold in capsules or fine powder. One bottle of kratom usually contains 80-100 capsules and is priced at a price range of $70 – $140 depend on where you buy.

The sales model in Indonesia is the same as that done by kratom sellers in America. In Uncle Sam’s country, some even opened special stores for kratom.

There are many types of strains from kratom. The two most widely sold strains are Maeng Da and Red Vein type kratom. Maeng Da is promoted by sellers as a stimulant-producing kratom that gives effect to improving mood and energy.

While Red Vein is called to provide a relaxation effect, makes the body feel light, and normalizes blood circulation. If Maeng Da is recommended to be consumed during work / activity, Red Vein is recommended by the seller to be consumed while relaxing.

Solution for addiction or not?

Researcher Erward Boyer noted, the use of kratom became popular in limited circles because it is often advertised as a supplement that could be an alternative to overcome addiction from narcotics or certain drugs.

According to Boyer, handling addiction problems with certain drugs requires patients to go back and forth to the doctor more often to get a prescription. This does not apply to kratom, because buyers simply order it instantly through online.

Boyer underlined the important note that ‘practical handling’ given by kratom means it can be concluded as a solution to overcome addiction.
